About the Trust

Creation of Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust :

Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust was created by H. H. Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji of Bikaner on 12th March 1972 for Public Charitable and Philanthropic purpose and for providing socio-cultural activities and to promote the development and progress of the area of Bikaner State with a desire to serve the people of these areas and with a view to promote Cultural, Educational, Medical, Moral, Sports and other such facilities and to provide for the poor and needy and for national integration and international understanding.
The  corpus of the Trust was created by transferring the immovable properties being the part of land and building of Lallgarh Palace Complex. This Trust is registered with the Devasthan Department, Government of Rajasthan.

Maharaja Sri Ganga Singhji

Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji named this Trust after his grandfather, Maharaja Ganga Singhji, who was born on 13th Oct. 1880 and succeeded the throne of Bikaner State on 31st Aug. 1887, Maharaja Ganga Singhji was a man of great vision and was responsible for bringing Bikaner State on the International map by his great deeds and strenuous efforts. He was a great Soldier, Builder, Statesman & Patriot. He faced the challenge of great famine of 1889 very successfully, and to combat such situations in future he brought the Ganga Canal Irrigation System from Sutlej River to Irrigate a vast tract of sandy land in his state and spread a well planned network of Railway System throughout the State. He was a very enlightened Ruler and was ahead of his times and brought about many reforms in his State. His services to the cause of Indian Nationalism are such as to entitle him to an honored place among the ranks of the great Indians Patriots. He advocated the idea of a federal system of Government in India and never lost the opportunity of espousing the cause of India's just aspirations for the attainment of freedom. He was a profound scholar, a great orator and a great administrator.


Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji was a great Sportsman, Philanthropist with vision and foresight and follower of democratic traditions. The creation of this Trust shows Dr. Karni Singhji  immense leaning towards public services and to achieve the goals ascertained by his forefathers.

The Lallgarh Palace :  
 The Lallgargh Palace is situated on the outskirts of the Bikaner city and spread over a vast area of land. The imposing red sand stone Palace was built by Maharaja Ganga Singhji to commemorate the memory of his Rev. father, Maharaja Sri Lall Singhji . This Palace was designed by Sir Swanton Jacob of international  fame. Red sand stone and mortar, annulled by age, in forms that are neither distinctively Moghul in conception, nor completely indigenous in execution, but an  outstanding blend of both. The material, Artists and Artisans were, of course local. It is among the purest form of Rajput Palaces with a fine blend of an oriental facade and an occidental interior. This Palace is entirely built of Red Sand Stone, which was quarried from the mines at Dulmera Village at a distance of 30 KM from Bikaner.

The intricate dexterous carving on the red sand stone is a hallmark of great craftsmanship. The lush green sprawling lawns with dancing peacocks and beautiful bougainvilleas adorn the palace.
